Owner’s Manual,  Installation Instruction and Trouble Shooting Guideline:

Applies to the following models:
  1. F150 (2013-2014) | SYNC 1 | Stock 4″ Screen
  2. F150 (2013-2014) | SYNC 2 | Stock 8″ Screen

Before the installation, please confirm you ordered the correct model for your vehicle: HERE

Please also take a picture of the back of the new system (There will be a label with the part number of the unit that you received). It will be easier to identify the model for warranty purpose.
Wiring Harness Introduction (Only for reference, different model will come with different main harness instead):

 

[SYNC 1] – Installation Video Instruction

Installation Video Instruction (Ford F150 | 2013-2014 | SYNC 1):

Note:

Original CD Player / Radio need to be removed completely for SYNC 1 vehicle.

For SYNC 1 vehicles, it does not require to keep the original radio. The original radio will be removed completely during the installation. Therefore, the main harness will be connected directly to the original harness behind the original radio.

 

[SYNC 2] – Installation Video Instruction

Installation Video Instruction (Ford F150 | 2013-2014 | SYNC 2):

Note:

Original CD Player / Radio need to be stayed inside for SYNC 2 vehicles. SYNC 2 Module / APIM also need to be transferred to the back of the new system. New system needs to work together with the original radio and origianl SYNC module. Also, in order to fit the original CD-Player behind the new screen, the origianl metal bracket for the CD-Player also need to be replaced with the one that included in the package. 

For SYNC 2 vehicles, it does require to keep the original radio and original SYNC 2 module. The original radio needs to stay inside since it’s required to work together with the new system. For Android 11 version, there is no T-Harness is required. During the installation, you do not need to remove the original radio. The new hanress provided is to connect to the back of the SYNC 2 module.

 

[SYNC 2 – Audio Issues]

Important: Please make sure all the harness mention shown in the picture below are connected  properly. Even the harness is unused, they still need to be connected properly to the back of the unit. (From left to right, it should be: Blue > White > Yellow). The “Yellow” connector must be connected properly, otherwise, the audio will not go through the original system.

Note:

If you have audio isses on the new system after the installation, please follow the step below:

Step 1: Get ready with a USB and copy one of the MP3 or music file to the USB. Any kind of music will work.

Step 2: Insert the USB to the “ORIGINAL” USB port under the dash (NOT the USB from the new tesla screen)

Step 3: Go to Original SYNC menu by clicking on “Console” on top of the menu bar.

Step 4: Go to Media from the original SYNC menu and select USB.

Step 5: Click on Home icon from the bottom left of the new screen.

[How to use / setup the new infotainment system – Comprehensive Guideline]

The video tutorial below will show you step by step how to use and setup the infotainment system at the beginning. Please feel free to watch this video if you have any questions on how to operate the system.

 

[Reverse Camera & Original Screen Issues]

If the original camera is not showing on the screen while the original SYNC is showing on the “Console” Please check the settings below for Reverse Camera Settings.

Note: Since the original camera is from the original SYNC, please make sure the original SYNC menu shows on the new system first. It’s under “Console” from the navigation panel on the top of the screen.

  1. Go to Settings – Factory Setting (Password: 7890)
  2. Reversing Format:
    1. Select (VGA) for SYNC 2 and SYNC 3 vehicles
    2. Select (CVBS) for SYNC 1 vehicles
  3. Click “Save and Reboot”
(SYNC 1)
  • Please make sure the camera harness is connected properly.

  • Go to Setting – System – Factory Setting (Password: 7890)
  • Step 3: Reversing Format – Please make sure it’s set to “CVBS” for “SYNC 1“.
  • Step 4: Save and Reboot
(SYNC 2)
  • Please make sure the original SYNC module / APIM module is connected properly.

  • Since the camera signal goes through the original SYNC System, please check if the original SYNC menu shows on the screen properly. You can enter the SYNC menu by clicking on “Console” from the top of the menu bar. The backup camera signal is from the original SYNC system, in order to check the camera signal, first need to make sure the original SYNC menu shows on the screen. Also, please make sure you have transferred the original APIM / SYNC module to the new screen. In order to reset the APIM, you can also try to unplug the SYNC computer and connect it again.
  • If the original SYNC menu does not show up on the new screen properly, please check the protocol settings and make sure it is correct.
    You can go to Settings – Systems – Car Model/AC Model (Password: 666888) to confirm if you have the correct settings according to your original vehicle.
  • If the original SYNC menu shows up properly under the “Console” menu, then you can check another reversing setting:
  • Go to Setting – System – Factory Setting (Password: 7890) – Reversing Format. Please make sure it’s set to “VGA” for “SYNC 2“.
  • Save and Reboot

 

[SYNC 2] How to fix “Touch Screen” isses on SYNC 2 menu:

The tesla screen works properly, only the touch point on the original SYNC 2 menu become opposite, the SYNC 2 screen can be activate under the icon “Console”.

Note: There are two methods to adjust the original SYNC 2 touch screen. Please try “Method 1” first, if it doesn’t work, please try “Method 2”.

Method 1:

Step 1: Go to “Console” to activate the SYNC 2 screen

Step 2: Use ONE finger to hold the SYNC 2 screen area for 15 seconds, the screen will turn black and on again.

 

Method 2:

Step 1: Go to Setting – System – Setting Guide – Car Model/AC – 666888

Then You can select between two different settings:
S2 Touch the Origin
S2 Touch Origin

You can select between these settings by double click on the icon and the system will restart.

Step 2: Once the system restarted, you can hold the SYNC 2 menu by 20 seconds and the new settings will take effect

[Bakup Camera / Reverse Guideline]

You can turn ON/OFF the reverse guideline from the system by following the steps below:

[BakupCamera / Reverse Mirrored Image]

If you have mirrored image when reverse (Left side become Right side / Right side become Left side), you can follow the steps below:

  1. Change the gear to reverse and bring up the reverse screen first
  2. Click on the Reverse setting menu on the bottom left corner
  3. Adjust the settings of the option “Mirror”

 

[Reset Procedure]

Hardware Reset:

If the screen stay blank / black when you turn on the vehicle, you can use a small pin (such as Sim Card Tray Eject Pin) to click on the reset button. The reset button is usually located at the front of the unit and labelled as “RST”. Once you press the RESET button, the system will restart.

Note: This will not erase the softwares that you installed on the unit recently, also, it will not change the settings back to factory default state.

 

Software Factory Reset:

If you want to reset the software and settings of the system back to factory state, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Setting – System
  2. Scroll down the menu and select “Factory Reset”

Note: This will erase the software that you installed on the unit recently, it will also reset the unit back to factory condition

 

[Screen Calibration]

If the screen has some touch issue, you can re-calibrate the screen by following the steps below:

  1. Hold FIVE fingers anywhere on the screen for around 10 seconds.
  2. Follow the instruction on the screen
  3. Click Save

 

[WiFi Connectivity]

In order to connect to WiFi, first you will need to make sure you are not using wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto at the same time. If you have connected to wireless Apple CarPlay, please turn it off from the cellphone first. For more details, please refer to the section below [Apple CarPlay].

  1. Pull down the menu from the top edge of screen, hold the WiFi icon to open the WiFi connection menu.
  2. Connect the WiFi to the hotsot of the cellphone.
  3. Go to Setting – System – Android – Time Setting
  4. Turn ON Network Time
  5. Turn OFF auto time zone and manually adjust the time zone according to your area
  6. Make sure the time on the upper left corner of the screen matches with your area’s local time.
  7. Once the time matches with the local time, WiFi should work.

 

[Bluetooth]

If you are not able to pair the bluetooth with the screen. Please follow the steps below:

  • Go to the Bluetooth menu of your cellphone, search for previous pairing record. Unpair and Delete it.
  • Go to the Bluetooth menu of the new system. Click on the Connection icon on the Bluetooth menu.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth of the cellphone and turn it back on again.
  • Search the Bluetooth name of the new system again on the phone.

[Google App]

After the installation, if you can’t use the Google App. Please make sure you have connected to a functioning network and follow the steps below:

  1. Connect to the WiFi hotspot of the cellphone
  2. Open the internet browser and confirm the internet is working.
  3. Go to Setting – System – Factory Setting (Password: 7890)
  4. Look up a setting “Google App”. Make sure it’s turned on
  5. Click “Save & Reboot”

[4G LTE]

For the Sim Card, in order to get a better compatibility, we would suggest you to use a Data Only medium size sim card. The cellular plan will not be compatible, only data plan will be compatible. Also, you may need to setup an APN as well. We have tested the network on Mint Mobile / T-Mobile and they work fine. Once you insert the sim card, you can also try to use a tiny pin to reset the unit, the unit should recognize the sim automatically if it’s compatible with the unit. Please also make sure the LTE antenna is located at a position where can receive the signal as well.

For Mint Mobile: All you need to do is to insert the SIM card with the unit power off and then power the unit back on and after a few seconds it recognizes the SIM card. Mint Mobile will ask you to download their app online whether you use your smartphone or your laptop and so you can activate the card online.

[How to remove the tiny Robot icon on the main screen]

If you have the following isue or would like to remove the robot icon from the main screen, please follow the steps below:

Symptom:

  1. Apps open by itself

The apps open by itself is becasue of the built-in voice assistant app. You can remove / turn off the Voice Assistant (tiny robot icon) from the app list. In order to turn it off, please follow the steps below:

Go to App List of the system, look for Toppal Voice, turn off all the features, then the robot icon will be removed from the screen.

[Apple CarPlay]

How to connect / reset wireless Apple CarPlay:

Note: If you have any difficulties on connecting the CarPlay on the new system, please make sure you have DISCONNECTED the cellphone from the original Bluetooth first. You can go to the Bluetooth menu of the cellphone to confirm it. If you see any connections with the original system, please disconnect and unpair it before try to connect the CarPlay from the New Android Screen.

Wireless Apple CarPlay only use Bluetooth to pair at the beginning, once it got paired, it will automatically switch to the WiFi channel at the background. While using Wireless Apple CarPlay, you can not turn on WiFi hotspot at the same time. If you would like to turn on the WiFi Hotspot to use some of the applications (such as YouTube..etc), you will need to turn off the CarPlay first. The procedure to turn off the CarPlay shows as below:

CarPlay Reset Procedure:

Part 1: Reset and Erase all previous pairing record

Step 1: Go to CarPlay Setting Menu on the iPhone. (It’s under General Setting menu of the phone. Under General Setting, Search CarPlay)

Step 2: Delete and forget all the devices under the CarPlay list.

Step 3: Restart the iPhone.

Step 4: Go to the Bluetooth menu on the New Android Screen.

Step 5: Select the connection icon on the Bluetooth menu (Located at the upper right corner of the Bluetooth menu). Delete and unpair all previous connected device under the Bluetooth menu.

Step 6: Reset the new system by using a tiny pin to click on the rest button which is usually located at the front of the unit. The Reset button is labelled as “RST”.

Step 7: Once both the phone and the screen are both restarted, you can start to pair the carplay again.

Part 2: How to connect Wireless Apple CarPlay:

Step 1: Go to Bluetooth menu of the New Android System. Select the connection icon on the Bluetooth menu (Located at the upper right corner of the Bluetooth menu).

Step 2: Go to the Bluetooth menu of your iPhone. Pair the New Android System with the iPhone.

Note: Wireless Apple CarPlay ONLY use Bluetooth to pair at the beginning. Once they got paired, both devices will switch to WiFi channel at the background. Therefore, the Bluetooth will show “Disconnected” on the iPhone and the tablet. This is “Normal” and please do not Manually

Connect the Bluetooth when the CarPlay connection is established.

Step 3: Once it got paired, the Bluetooth will be disconnected automatically and the connection will be switch to WiFi channel at the background

Step 4: System will automatically open CarAuto (CarPlay) on the table screen.

Step 5: Grant the authorization message of “Using CarPlay” on the iPhone.

 

How to connect / reset wireless Android Auto:
